40 DAYS MENU
Welcome to
40 Days of Prayer
You can start this journey whenever you would like, using the Prayer Guide below and Daily Devotional videos. This is primarily designed to be a Small Group program; use the Leader Resource videos each week and then go through the guide as a group.
Why 40 Days?
There is significance to 40 days in the Bible. In Exodus 34:28 we read that Moses was on the mountain with the Lord for forty days and forty nights and then the Lord wrote the Ten Commandments on the stone tablets. Matthew 4:1-2 tells of how Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights which launched Jesus into ministry. Matthew 4:17 says, from then on Jesus began to preach. We can see from the Bible, something decisive occurred because Moses and Jesus pressed in for 40 Days. As a church, we too anticipate that God will be faithful in seeing us through our 40 Days of Prayer and then launch each one of us into a new season of break-through, of forgiveness, of healing and of a closer relationship with Jesus.
What to expect during
40 Days of Prayer
Hello Family,
We are about to embark on a prayer journey as a church. We’re anticipating God to use this time to move in and through each and every one of us in a huge way. We want to answer some of your questions about 40 Days of Prayer.
Why are we doing 40 days of Prayer?
As a church we traditionally dedicate the first few weeks of the new year to a time of prayer and fasting. During this pivotal time in our history, we feel God is calling us to cover our nation, the elections, our church, our families, our relationships, and so much more, in prayer. We also believe it is important, now more than ever, to be connected to one another.

Who is participating?
The entire church is invited to participate in 40 Days of Prayer. All ministries at Water of Life are jumping in! From EK Kids ministry through Young Adults to Small Groups and Bible Studies; we’re all in!
Why Should I join a Small Group?
At Water of Life, we believe life transformation happens in the context of relationships. We were not meant to live life or pursue our faith alone. According to Matthew 4:18 – 22, the first thing Jesus did when He started His ministry was to launch a small group (He called them His disciples). We think that’s a good example to follow. We encourage you, during 40 Days of Prayer, to spend 5 weeks in a Small Group. Some groups are meeting temporarily online while others have chosen to meet in backyards or other outdoor spaces. You can find and join a small group today. Click here for a list of available Small Groups.
Can I host my own Small Group?
Yes! Hosting a Small Group is easy. The only thing required to be a host is:
H – Heart for God
O – Openness to grow
S – Serve faithfully as a Host for 5 weeks
T – Turn on the video
We provide you with the resources and videos from Pastor Dan that you will share with your Small Group each week along with support from other Small Group Leaders and staff. You can gather a group of friends, family, neighbors or we’ll gather them for you! Let us know today if you would host a Small Group.
