Due to continued COVID-19 concerns, Sozo prayer sessions will continue to be offered virtually via a private Zoom session. However, in person sessions have resumed as of August 2021. You are welcome to apply for a Sozo prayer session and choose either a virtual or in person session when filling out your application. We are happy to be able to provide both options. Thank you!
Where did the Sozo Ministry come from?
Prayer and deliverance ministries have been around ever since Jesus demonstrated His power on earth by healing (sozo-ing) many that came to Him. The term “Sozo” is a Greek word from the New Testament that means “to save, make whole, heal, to be whole, rescue from danger, and deliver” – basically, to save in every imaginable way! Matthew 18:11 says, “the Son of Man has come to save (sozo) that which was lost.” Jesus came to completely restore us!
What does a Sozo session look like?
The Sozo Ministry is a unique inner healing and deliverance ministry. Its goal is to get to the root of things that hinder your personal connection with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. With a healed connection with God, you can walk freely in the destiny to which you have been called. Sozo Ministry sessions are unique to the individual receiving prayer: no two sessions are alike. Sozo is Holy Spirit-led and effective; focuses on the root issues, not the symptoms; and helps to restore wholeness in your relationship with God.
The sessions are friendly, relaxed, and informal. They are also completely confidential. Each Sozo Ministry session is different. The Sozo team relies on the leading and revelation of the Holy Spirit to identify and heal past/present wounds, bless the individual through prayer and encouragement, and more.
Is the Sozo Ministry like professional counseling?
The Sozo Ministry is not counseling, but some general goals and approaches are used to help provide breakthrough for individuals. Sozo Ministry teams are made up of Christians who desire to help each other overcome obstacles and strongholds. Sozo team members have had extensive training and experience as an observer and assistant before they become session leaders.
When will my session be?
Please note, prayer sessions are not held during the months of July and December.
It is our desire to schedule your prayer session as soon as we’re able. Sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm and Saturday mornings at 9:00am. However, due to the high volume of applications for women, there could be a wait time. Once we have received your completed application form, we will do our best to provide an estimated prayer session date and other information when we contact you. All sessions are kept confidential and are held at Water of Life Community Church.
Other churches or ministries that also provide Sozo sessions include:
- Refuge Community Church, Rancho Cucamonga
- Claremont Healing Rooms
- Pasadena International House of Prayer (PIHOP)
- Harvest Rock Church, Pasadena

Additional Resources
Every believer experiences pain and hardship, whether in the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual realm. The spiritual realm encompasses the other three to such a high degree that we often refer to these hardships as “spiritual warfare.” As believers, it’s important to understand what spiritual warfare is, how we can combat it, and to know, above all, that our victory lies in Christ. Below is a link to a Spiritual Warfare series from Pastor Dan. We hope you’ll find it helpful.
