Our History

Water of Life Community Church was established on Sunday, October 28, 1990, when twenty-one adults and eleven children gathered to worship in the La Petite Childcare Building in Rancho Cucamonga. The church was born out of a men’s Bible study led by founding pastor Dan Carroll—a group that had grown together in faith and committed themselves to seeking God’s plan as a church family.

Water of Life is a non-denominational, evangelical, charismatic church. We are devoted to studying and obeying the Bible as the inspired Word of God. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the present-day operation of the spiritual gifts described in the New Testament.

Our Beliefs

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and in glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts and infallible rule of faith and practice.

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth; sinless life; miracles and teachings; His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven; perpetual intercession for His people; and personal, visible return to earth.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore under condemnation, that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes a seeking believer with the Holy Spirit with power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.

We believe in the Universal Church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are the members.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion, and communion open to all believers. We believe also in the laying on of hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit; for ordination of pastors, elders and deacons; and for receiving gifts of the Spirit or healing.

We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom; in the resurrection of the body; the final judgment; and the eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

We believe in what is termed “The Apostles Creed” as embodying the fundamental facts of Christian faith.

We believe in the historical Christian position. That position holds as truth that any sexual expression outside the sacred covenant of marriage, between people identified
as male and female at birth, is outside of God’s intentional design for sex and therefore an expression of human sin.

We believe that living in the way of Jesus means embracing his vision of faithfulness regarding sexuality. Culture often associates acceptance with approval; however, we believe that Jesus shows us that acceptance and approval are not always associated. Jesus demonstrated acceptance of all people, even as he did not
approve of lifestyles that deviated from God’s design. Acceptance and approval, therefore, are not mutually exclusive – one can accept a person while withholding
approval of their choices or behaviors.

We believe that the community that is the church should be open and accessible to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, identity, or lifestyle.

We believe that each of us is on a journey of transformation through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, and that each person who seeks to follow Jesus is on a journey of change and growth.
