Partnering with Operation Mobilization
Based in California
Joni has been serving the Lord with Operation Mobilization for over 26 years. Saved through the ministry of Youth For Christ in 1970, she was involved in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting for several years before moving overseas with her husband and 1st baby in 1978. She and her husband Norm married in 1973 and were part of the founding group of one of their sending churches, Life Bible Fellowship Church in Upland, CA. Together they have lived/ministered/travelled to over 30 nations, leading teams, founding and running a missionary base for N. Africa, and serving as country and field leaders in OM.
Joni directed a community food warehouse ministry for 2 years with Water of Life Community, and drove an ambulance as an EMT. With TOEFL certification, she also taught English as a Foreign Language in the Middle East while providing “Member Care” for workers there. Mother of 4 wonderful children who were partly born and raised in Muslim countries, she also loves spending time with her 10 grandchildren spread around the U.S.
She presently mobilizes and mentors university students in California to “get out there” into unreached nations. Speaking at universities, churches, and conferences, she loves to share from her heart about the work of missions, intercultural issues, the world of Islam, worldwide opportunities, member care issues, and raising families. She is in leadership in Perspectives from the US Center For World Missions, an equipping course for ministry whether “across the street” or “across the world.” She currently lives with her husband in Oak Hills, SoCal and has ministry among local refugees of war from Muslim nations. She has 9 grandchildren and 2 “adopted” ones.
